How To Swaddle A Newborn Baby Properly

Swaddling is at the heart of getting a baby to sleep. While there are other benefits to it as well such as maintaining the warmth and security for the baby, its also preventing any other harms way to the baby as well. But swaddling a baby can be a tricky thing to master. If you're not doing it right, you could be causing lots of problems for your baby including sleep deprivation, overheating, increased risk of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) and even eroding their immune system. So here are the proper steps to swaddling your newborn child.

Step 1: Find a even smooth flat surface

Step 2: Lay out the piece of blanket into a diamond shape. Then place your baby in the center. Make sure your newborn's shoulders are below the fold.

Step 3: Begin to fold (either side; right or left) inwards to the baby's chest. Make sure your baby's arms are comfortable enough because this step is all about tucking them in securely while providing a bit opening. Also, make sure the baby's legs are relaxed.

Step 4: Fold the bottom piece upwards.

Step 5: Wrap the remaining opening (depends on what side you wrap first). When wrapping them into a swaddle, make sure both sides are tucked over their shoulders and under their shoulder blade.

Here is another example that desaturates the following steps.

 Conclusion:

The more you practice swaddling, the more comfortable your baby will be in the process. Otherwise the baby may be uncomfortable and get tangled up in the blanket. By learning the swaddle blanket techniques, you'll be able to give your baby a great start to the day and a great way to get a good nights sleep.
